Mr. Patrice Simon
Director, Environment and Biodiversity Science Branch
Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Mr. Simon holds a B. Sc in Biology from McGill University and a M. Sc. in fish ecology from University of Waterloo, Ontario. He joined Fisheries and Oceans Canada in 1998 as a Fisheries Management Biologist in Iqaluit, Nunavut. He is the Director of the Environment and Biodiversity Science Branch at Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Ottawa since 2008.  He manages various national aquatic science programs including the Aquatic Invasive Species Program, the Habitat Science Program and the Biodiversity Program.  Patrice has been appointed on other science management boards such as the Environmental Science Research Fund, the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Network, and the Canadian Healthy Oceans Network. Prior to his current position, Patrice was the director of the Fish Population Science Branch where he managed the Stock Assessment Program for commercial species and species at risk from 2005 to 2007. Mr. Simon was a senior advisor on marine mammal and Arctic fish from 2001 to 2005.
